What is Tin disulfide

What exactly is Tin disulfide?

Tin disulfide (also known as Tin) is an inorganic compound with chemical formula SnS2. It is an yellow hexagonal flake that has that has a CdI2 cristal structure. It is not soluble in the water but is water-soluble in aqua regia. It is also soluble in hot alkaline solutions. It's additionally, it is soluble in sodium sulfur Solution, which is frequently used as gold paint.

Tin disulfide is soluble aqua regia as well as hot alkali solution. It is also able to undergo coordination reaction with concentrated hydrochloric acid. However, it is imsoluble within dilute hydrochloric acids but insoluble in water and in nitric acid. It is also capable of resolving with ammonium sulfur to dissolve.

How do you make Tin disulfide?

Tin disulfide can be obtained simply by combining tin directly with sulfur in the presence of the iodine. The reaction involves heat:

2. S --- SnS2

Another approach is to inject hydrogen sulfide through the tin (IV) salt solution or the tin (IV) salt solution and melt it.

Electrochemical properties of carbon nanotubes with multi-walled walls confined to tin dioxide as the negative electrodes of lithium ion battery

Direct current arc-plasma method was employed to create multi-walled carbon nanotube-confined metal Nanostructures (Sn@MWCNT) as the precursor under a methane environment, and later SnS_2@MWCNT structures were made through their sulfurization reactions. The results of the physical characterization of the material such as Raman, Xray diffraction (XRD) as well as the transmission electron microscope (TEM) confirmed that the length of multi-walled carbon-carbon nanotubes was approximately 400nm, the surface carbon layer was well crystallized while the size of the carbon layer was 10 nanometers. Lithium-ion batteries made of Sn S2@MWCNT nanostructures as anode materials have relatively good electrochemical performance. The first charged-discharge Coulomb efficiency is 71% at the end of 50 cycles, the capacity remains constant at 703 mAh?g-1. The advantages of SnS_2@MWCNT's high-capacity nanostructured electrodes are due to the fact that a range of active substances provide the capacity together, and the reactant platform of each is distinct.

Study on electrochemical performance of tin disulfide/single-walled carbon nanotube composite material used as anode material for lithium-ion battery

A new composite material composed of SnS2 and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is prepared using a simple solvothermal method. It was found to have good electrochemical performance after being connected to the negative electrode of lithium Ion batteries. When the current density is high of 1 A/g, even after hundred cycles it retains a specific capacity that is reversible of approximately 510 amps/g. We used similar methods to synthesize a single SnS2 material and then conduct the electrochemical test on it. Results show that even though the initial specific ability of SnS2 material is relatively impressive, the cycle performance is not great, and decreases rapidly after less than 20 cycles. The superior efficiency of the composite in batteries made from lithium is believed to be due to the synergy between the two component that comprise SnS2 as well as SWCNTs.
